Teaching cannot be done independently. It is a team effort with teachers helping teachers. There are many other responsibilities that teachers are accountable for everyday. Professionalism is a very important part of teaching. Teachers need to be respected and be able to communicate among students, parents, other teaching professionals, and administrators.

Professionalism is an attribute that is learned through experience. My work experience in customer service has helped me become the hardworking professional I am today. I have experience helping customers through difficult situations, being a team lead, and hiring and developing staff. While these experiences have helped me professionally, my student teaching allowed me to take on even more of the professional responsibilities teachers face on a daily basis.

Some of the professional responsibilities of a teacher include parent-teacher conferences, participating in staff meetings, and grade-level team meetings. In addition, I voluntarily participated in judging for the 5th grade Science Fair to increase my presence among the other teachers and administrators. Another very important aspect of professional growth is being a reflective teacher. During my internship, I was able to collect and analyze data in a way that helped me reflect and make changes to my daily instruction. Keeping organized and accurate records of competed work is another trait of a professional teacher.
